McKinsey & Company seeks an Associate in Procurement for its Geneva or Zurich office. The role supports clients with strategic purchasing and operational challenges within the European Operations Practice.

This position sits within the European Operations Practice and focuses on helping clients navigate complex operational hurdles. The associate will craft purchasing strategies that align with business goals and provide a competitive advantage, working across the Zurich or Geneva offices.

Responsibilities

  • Take charge of specific workstreams within client service teams to address business challenges.
  • Collaborate with European colleagues and clients to design effective purchasing strategies.
  • Advise leadership on strategic and operational matters, including global sourcing, e-procurement, supplier development, and structuring purchasing departments.
  • Develop high-quality deliverables such as presentations, financial models, articles, and other written materials.

Requirements

  • Hold a PhD, MBA, or Master's degree with a strong academic background.
  • Possess at least two years of experience in strategic purchasing or supply management.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, including the ability to start and finish tasks independently.
  • Showcase excellent communication abilities, adapting to various audiences and seniority levels.
  • Manage time effectively to handle responsibilities in a complex, largely autonomous setting.
  • Be available for meetings outside standard hours or take on projects with little notice when needed.
  • Travel to and work in diverse environments, including factories, hospitals, or mines, which may present challenges.
  • Fluency in English is required, along with either German (C1) for Zurich or French (C1) for Geneva.

Nice to have

  • Experience or studies conducted in Switzerland are preferred.
