Bioengineer, Display & Library Engineering

Adaptyv seeks a Bioengineer to build and operate automated display platforms in Lausanne, bridging AI-driven sequence design with physical experimental validation.

This position focuses on constructing biological libraries and executing selection campaigns to scale data generation. The role serves as a critical link between computational sequence design and physical measurement, ensuring that AI-generated hypotheses are rigorously tested in the wet lab. It is a hands-on build role rather than a service-oriented function.

Responsibilities

• Construct oligo pools, perform combinatorial assembly, and implement barcoding strategies.
• Execute end-to-end selection processes, including assessing whether rounds have successfully enriched for true binders.
• Select and establish the appropriate display platform for each campaign based on library characteristics and target requirements.
• Manage and interpret sequencing data independently.
• Develop robust protocols that can be handed off to the automation team for execution without manual intervention.
• Validate selected designs by expressing them and measuring binding affinity using BLI and SPR techniques.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline combined with at least three years of experience in display and selection methodologies.
• Proven track record of setting up a display platform from the ground up, rather than merely using existing systems or managing external contract research organizations.
• Strong expertise in high-diversity cloning and a deep understanding of potential biases within oligo pools.
• Routine proficiency with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Flow Cytometry (FACS) where applicable.
• Competent programming skills in Python or R to analyze data independently.
• Active and serious utilization of AI coding assistants, specifically Claude Code.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks effectively, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
• Capacity to operate at a rapid startup pace while meeting strict customer deadlines.
• A strong preference for automating manual protocols to improve efficiency and scalability.

Nice to have

• Deep specialization in at least one specific display format, along with working knowledge of other formats.
