Kandou seeks a Senior Characterization Engineer in Saint-Sulpice to lead high-speed SerDes testing and automation, supporting their MIMO-over-copper AI infrastructure technology.
Based in the Swiss lab, this position focuses on validating high-speed SerDes designs to support Kandou’s proprietary MIMO-over-copper technology. The role ensures the reliability and performance of chiplet-based AI memory fabric by managing end-to-end electrical characterization and automation.
Responsibilities
- Manage complete characterization workflows for high-speed SerDes components running at symbol rates exceeding 20 Gbaud.
- Execute measurements for jitter, eye diagrams, bit error rate (BER), and margin analysis across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations.
- Evaluate full electrical parameters for both transmitter and receiver circuits.
- Conduct S-parameter, time-domain reflectometry (TDR), and insertion loss tests.
- Partner with IP architects and analog/digital design teams to align testing with development goals.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for test procedures and results.
- Develop and structure Python-based scripts to automate testing, data analysis, and reporting.
Requirements
- Demonstrated background in characterizing high-speed SerDes designs with symbol rates above 20 Gbaud across PVT conditions.
- Deep understanding of both transmitter and receiver characteristics in high-speed systems.
- Proficiency with high-speed oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNAs), and spectrum analyzers operating above 30 GHz.
- Experience in defining comprehensive test plans and standard operating procedures.
- Strong programming skills in Python or similar object-oriented languages for test automation and report generation.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience.
- A self-driven mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach within cross-functional teams.
- Solid grasp of signal integrity concepts, modulation schemes, and TX/RX fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience characterizing high-speed analog circuits.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with PAM modulation or multi-tonal modulation schemes.
- Experience with schematic entry or PCB design.
