Swiss Re seeks a Senior Claims Expert for its P&C Reinsurance team in Zurich, focusing on the Swiss market. The role involves managing complex claims portfolios, driving performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
This position is based at Swiss Re’s headquarters in Zurich and supports the P&C Reinsurance Claims team for the Swiss market. The expert reports to the Head of Claims for Northern, Central & Eastern Europe and is tasked with steering a significant portfolio of property and casualty claims. The primary goal is to deliver client-focused outcomes while improving overall portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the assigned claims portfolio, overseeing its performance and strategic development.
- Reduce adverse prior-year development and actively identify areas to minimize claims leakage.
- Create and execute handling strategies for complex loss scenarios.
- Provide expert guidance and ensure effective monitoring across the P&C Claims unit.
- Perform claims reviews and audits to support portfolio steering and transaction goals.
- Monitor legal risks and regulatory changes affecting current and future business.
- Analyze claims trends to inform Underwriting decisions.
- Participate in Smart Circles to align Client Markets, Underwriting, Products, and Reserving teams.
- Deliver client-focused initiatives that align with the company’s broader strategy.
Requirements
- A university degree or vocational training in insurance, loss adjusting, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of experience in the (re)insurance sector.
- Hands-on experience managing large liability or property claims, or in underwriting.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.
- Strong leadership presence with experience representing the organization at senior client levels.
- Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into practical action plans.
- Excellent stakeholder management and networking skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts constructively.
- Confidence in applying AI tools to enhance claims analysis, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Nice to have
- A good working knowledge of French.
- Experience in the primary insurance industry or within legal/insurance functions of large corporations.
- A degree in Law.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
What the company offers
- A base salary ranging from CHF 118,000 to CHF 178,000 for a full-time position.
