Reinsurance Senior Underwriter - Property Facultative (m/f/d) 80 - 100%

AXA seeks a Senior Underwriter for Property Facultative Reinsurance to manage complex risks and client relationships in Zurich or Paris. The role requires deep expertise in commercial property reinsurance and strong analytical skills.

This position serves as a regulated role within the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity framework. The professional will report directly to the Head of Property Facultative International Re and will be stationed in either Zurich or Paris. The core purpose involves overseeing high-value property reinsurance portfolios and driving sustainable growth across European markets.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and service profitable new and renewal business.
• Analyze, evaluate, and underwrite highly complex and/or high-volume Reinsurance risks, and develop customized coverage solutions.
• Develop innovative and sophisticated contract structures to meet specific client requirements for large and specialty risks.
• Prepare and document quotes and contract documents.
• Establish, maintain, and expand key client and broker relationships in core European markets.
• Lead negotiations in important client meetings and determine terms and contract details.
• Manage the client portfolio with a focus on sustainable profitability and risk diversification.
• Develop concepts to optimize the business and risk structure.
• Manage projects, including cross-functional and international ones.
• Submit proposals for new, complex product solutions and support further development or changes.

Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in underwriting within the (international) commercial (Re-)insurance sector, specifically in the property line.
• Expertise in large commercial risks and specialty risks and facultative reinsurance.
• Extensive experience in placing international programs.
• Very good knowledge of policy wording, product development, and insurance law.
• Fluent command of English.
• Highly proficient working command of German.
• Outstanding skills in managing an underwriting portfolio, including pricing, calculation, and risk assessment and evaluation.
• Excellent sales and commercial acumen with a passion for growing the insurance business.
• Outstanding aptitude for numbers and analytical skills.
• Extensive experience working with major industrial clients.
• Excellent negotiation skills and persuasive communication skills.
• Ability to analyze complex tasks in a structured manner, set priorities, and efficiently manage work processes.
• Exceptional teamwork skills to collaborate effectively in international, multicultural, and virtual teams.
