Commodity Buyer - Metal Components

The company seeks a Commodity Buyer for metal components in Lausanne. This mid-level, remote role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost reduction within an international industrial setting.

This position serves as a strategic function that directly influences procurement outcomes. The buyer will operate within a technology-focused industrial setting, enjoying significant independence while collaborating across various departments.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute sourcing plans for metal components.
• Oversee an international supplier base to maintain competitive pricing, quality standards, and timely deliveries.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, request for quotes, commercial discussions, and contract administration.
• Spearhead cost-saving efforts, value engineering projects, and ongoing improvement activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and project teams during the product lifecycle.
• Track supplier metrics and apply necessary corrective measures.
• Assist new product development and industrialization efforts from a procurement standpoint.
• Recognize and address supply chain vulnerabilities to ensure operational continuity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline.
• At least three years of experience in strategic procurement specifically for metal components.
• Prior experience purchasing categories such as castings, forgings, machined parts, fabricated metal components or similar.
• Experience gained within demanding industrial sectors such as aerospace, aviation, automotive, railway or other advanced manufacturing environments.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier management.
• Fluent English is mandatory.
