Bühler seeks a Mid-level Controls Engineer in Owatonna, CH, to design control systems, support customers, and drive product integration for sustainable industrial solutions.

This position sits at the heart of creating and refining control systems for new product lines, ensuring they integrate smoothly into client operations. The engineer acts as a key bridge between internal engineering teams and external clients, providing the technical expertise needed for installation, training, and ongoing support. By balancing human, natural, and economic factors, the role contributes to Bühler’s mission of delivering sustainable innovations for the food, feed, and mobility sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary link between clients and internal engineering groups to define control requirements and ensure the right products and services are delivered.
  • Design, develop, and validate all aspects of control system requirements, interfaces, and integration.
  • Deliver on-site support at customer and representative locations, covering controls integration, installation, training, and service.
  • Define and implement necessary interfaces for customer electrical control systems.
  • Lead product improvement initiatives to enhance features, reliability, and performance based on customer feedback.
  • Create and enforce internal quality assurance procedures for electrical systems.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and applications.
  • Conduct internal and external product training sessions.
  • Provide technical and sales support at customer sites.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in PLC, firmware, software, or controls engineering.
  • Familiarity with PLC communication protocols.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Design and SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Understanding of electrical control systems and interfaces for industrial vacuum technologies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice to have

  • A 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
