Director Evidence Development

Philip Morris Services SA seeks a Director of Evidence Development in Neuchâtel to lead scientific strategy for smoke-free product innovation. This hybrid role requires extensive R&D leadership and a PhD in Biological Sciences.

This position sits at the heart of a major organizational shift aimed at replacing traditional cigarettes with smoke-free alternatives. As the research and development engine for this vision, the role focuses on crafting the scientific evidence strategy needed to meet complex business objectives and drive the transition forward.

Responsibilities

• Translate business questions and communication goals into concrete scientific study plans and strategies.
• Provide strategic guidance and scientific oversight for all evidence development initiatives.
• Manage a team of scientists, balancing operational efficiency with rigorous scientific standards.
• Evaluate new scientific opportunities and critically assess scientific summaries.
• Review project outcomes and study data to prepare materials for scientific governance forums and external communications.
• Mentor and coach team members to foster professional growth.
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners and external scientific experts.

Requirements

• PhD in Biological Sciences accompanied by post-doctoral fellowship experience.
• At least 12 years of post-PhD experience in non-clinical and translational research within an R&D setting.
• Proven expertise across diverse health fields, including neuroscience, pulmonary, cardiovascular, and oral health.
• Experience leading scientific teams and navigating matrix-style project structures.
• Strong business acumen derived from industry leadership roles.
• Fluent written and spoken English proficiency.
