The International Organization for Migration seeks a Mid-level Software Engineer in Geneva to develop and maintain global DTM applications using AngularJS, C#, and Microsoft Azure.
This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of the global Displacement Tracking Matrix applications, with a primary focus on the DTM Data Kit at headquarters. The role ensures these systems support programme development and implementation across approximately 100 DTM missions worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain web applications using AngularJS for the frontend and C# / ASP.NET Core for the backend.
- Develop and manage RESTful APIs hosted on Microsoft Azure, including Azure API Management.
- Lead architecture design workshops to define system structures that meet functional, non-functional, and security requirements.
- Supervise, guide, and perform quality control on outsourced project partners.
- Deploy and maintain DTM applications in compliance with ICT and industry standards, ensuring scalability, security, and usability.
- Utilize Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Web Apps, Cosmos DB, and SQL Database to build cloud-based solutions.
- Design and manage databases, including optimization, using Cosmos DB (NoSQL) and SQL DB (relational).
- Develop and maintain APIs for web services to ensure seamless front-end integration.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure compliance with IPM Security and Vulnerability standards and contribute to team discussions.
- Write unit tests and assist in debugging to maintain high code quality.
- Collaborate with developers, designers, vendors, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable software solutions.
- Create technical documentation for codebases, processes, system architectures, and training materials.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field, or a university degree with two years of relevant professional experience.
- Extensive experience in application development and maintenance for cloud-based solutions, particularly MS Azure.
- Extensive experience in database development and maintenance (SQL and NoSQL), preferably supporting assessment and data collection systems.
- Extensive experience in API development.
- Experience in user-friendly application design.
- Experience in data migration using tools such as Azure Data Factory.
- Proficiency in AngularJS, C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET.
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
Nice to have
- MCP certification in any of the relevant products.
- Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
