Embedded Linux Development Engineer

Secheron S.A. in Satigny, CH, seeks a Senior Embedded Linux Development Engineer for full-time onsite work. The role involves developing secure, industrial-grade embedded systems using Linux, C, and CI/CD tools, with a focus on railway and industrial applications.

They are seeking a skilled Embedded Linux Engineer to develop robust, secure embedded solutions for industrial applications, including railway, renewable energy, and DC grid systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of secure, reliable embedded Linux systems for industrial use.
• Support project and maintenance teams with debugging, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
• Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux platforms using Yocto or Buildroot.
• Ensure system security and long-term reliability through best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and support for system diagnostics and enhancements.
• Improve existing embedded systems through upgrades and performance optimization.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded software development.
• Master’s degree in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a software focus.
• Deep expertise in Embedded Linux, including Yocto and Buildroot.
• Advanced C programming skills focused on performance and reliability.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Docker, build caching, and automation for industrial products.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity: secure coding, CVE management, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Proficient in Git for version control and collaborative development.
• Mandatory excellent English language skills.
• Proven ability to design and develop embedded Linux platforms using Yocto.
• Experience implementing and maintaining C-based software for embedded targets.
• Ability to drive industrialization efforts, including CI pipeline setup, build optimization, and deployment.
• Experience leading or supporting cybersecurity processes such as CVE tracking, threat modeling, and secure development lifecycle.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams including hardware, QA, and security for system integration.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Proven experience in backend or middleware development for IoT applications.
