Senior .NET Engineer - Embedded Device Web API (DeviceSide)

Id Quantique seeks a Senior .NET Engineer to build and maintain a secure, resilient device-side Web API for quantum network nodes in Geneva, Switzerland.

The company is looking for a senior engineer to own the development of a lightweight, secure, and resilient Web API that operates on quantum network nodes. This interface allows centralized orchestration services to remotely manage devices, handling configuration, monitoring, and operational actions even in constrained or air-gapped environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the embedded device Web API as the main management interface for the node, ensuring seamless compatibility with centralized orchestration services and their end-to-end management workflows.
• Integrate telemetry and eventing systems (OpenTelemetry Collector, SignalR, MQTT) with robust backpressure and offline-buffering strategies.
• Support multiple management paths (local console, SSH, remote API) with strict authentication/authorization and auditable actions.
• Optimize embedded constraints: low memory/CPU, secure update, deterministic startup/recovery, and safe rollback.
• Collaborate with hardware/firmware and crypto teams to expose device capabilities via stable contracts.

Requirements

• 8+ years in .NET backend with experience on edge/embedded Linux services or appliance-style products.
• Strong security (TLS/mTLS, cert pinning, secure storage) and defense-in-depth mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with serial/SSH tooling, constrained networks, update pipelines, and observability on the edge.
• Exposure to SDN concepts and network management standards (for example: NETCONF/YANG) is a plus.
• Knowledge of quantum networking and device-management interfaces is desirable.
