Engineer Measurement Technology / Electrical & Physical Testing of Plastics

Huntsman Advanced Materials seeks a Senior Engineer for Measurement Technology in Basel, focusing on electrical and physical testing of plastics within the Technology Europe Product Development Group.

This position serves as a testing expert for electrical and physical plastic evaluations, supporting both R&D and commercial initiatives. The role is embedded within the Technology Europe Product Development Group, reporting to the Testing Team & Technology Manager, and contributes to the product journey from initial concept through to market introduction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate and timely electrical and physical tests on plastic materials.
• Provide expert testing support to internal associates and other Huntsman locations for R&D and commercial projects.
• Prepare test specimens using mechanical manufacturing processes.
• Create and refine innovative testing methodologies.
• Introduce and apply new testing standards.
• Offer technical guidance and training to trainees.
• Document test results precisely in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements using standard software.
• Administer laboratory data via the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Maintain strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or electrotechnical engineering.
• Approximately 8–10 years of professional experience in high-frequency technical areas.
• Strong expertise in high-voltage testing procedures.
• Proficiency in programming environments for efficient measurement analysis and result interpretation.
• Demonstrated capability in electrical qualification and execution of electrical tests.
• Solid practical skills in manual work, including machine maintenance and repair.
• Deep understanding of metrology and emerging technologies.
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both English and German.

• Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage.
