Field Service Engineer – Atomic Spectroscopy

Agilent Technologies seeks a Field Service Engineer specializing in atomic spectroscopy (ICP-MS) for a remote role based near Basel, Switzerland. The position involves on-site installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.

Agilent Technologies supports laboratories worldwide with analytical instruments and expertise. This position strengthens the field service team near Basel, focusing primarily on atomic spectroscopy systems, particularly ICP-MS, to ensure optimal performance for customers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-site support for installing, configuring, and repairing both company and third-party systems, with a strong emphasis on atomic spectroscopy equipment like AAS, OES, and ICP-MS.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues while optimizing system components at client locations.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize system reliability and reduce operational downtime.
• Advise clients on system configurations, maintenance routines, and performance strategies to ensure high satisfaction.
• Implement fully integrated solutions, including peripherals, communication tools, operating systems, and application software.
• Act as an internal technical expert by handling escalations and collaborating with Support, Sales, Marketing, and R&D departments.
• Provide technical training, workshops, and knowledge transfer to field engineers and customers, including calibration and hands-on support for key accounts.
• Maintain all necessary customer and vendor credentials, including certifications, identification, and health and safety compliance, to access client sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field, with strong expertise in atomic spectroscopy or ICP-MS, or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of four years of relevant professional experience.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Fluency in German and English; knowledge of French is considered an advantage.

Nice to have

• Experience with molecular spectroscopy.
• Background in laboratory environments or familiarity with Agilent products.
• Proficiency in French.
