Pyrotek SA seeks a Field Service Engineer to provide technical and sales support, troubleshoot equipment, and conduct onsite inspections with up to 80% travel.
This position delivers both standard and advanced technical assistance alongside sales support to clients. The role involves a significant travel component, requiring the candidate to work remotely and visit customer sites up to 80% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Assess warranty claims to determine appropriate dispositions.
- Plan and arrange customer site visits and project tasks to reduce travel costs and ensure timely project completion.
- Support Engineering and Manufacturing teams with design suggestions and new equipment inspections.
- Address inquiries from customers and vendors, assess urgency, and clearly communicate complex technical issues and solutions.
- Deliver remote and onsite technical assistance for equipment operation, including new system commissioning, staff training, and troubleshooting standard or complex operational problems.
- Conduct inspections and tests on materials and machinery, such as instrument loop checks and safety verifications, to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Verify part dimensions to confirm they meet specified requirements.
- Investigate customer complaints to decide on warranty approvals and determine if failures stem from customer error, internal design flaws, or supplier issues, routing them accordingly per the SNIF® Quality Management System.
- Submit detailed reports to the central office following customer visits, covering technical issues, maintenance advice, and resolutions.
- Identify ways to reduce expenses and improve operational efficiency.
- Train end-users on proper equipment operation and maintenance during installation and commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or equivalent education/experience.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical manufacturing equipment, preferably in the aluminum or primary metals sector, including industrial fuel-fired equipment and PLC controls.
- Capability to assess, troubleshoot, and repair machinery using established principles, techniques, and standard operating procedures.
- Fundamental understanding of raw materials, production processes, and basic machinery.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for creating precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to apply PLC knowledge in the design, programming, and maintenance of automated machinery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, and Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).
- Willingness and ability to travel by land and air up to 80%, both domestically and internationally.
- Valid driver’s license and US Passport, or ability to obtain them.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
