Global AI Prompting Engineer PGTR

ABB Power Grids seeks a Mid-level Global AI Prompting Engineer for a remote role in Zurich. The position focuses on developing and optimizing prompts for ACE, a Generative AI platform for Bid & Proposal Management within the Transformers Business Unit.

This position supports a digital transformation effort to build ACE, a Generative AI-driven platform for Bid & Proposal Management in the Transformers Business Unit. The engineer will design, test, and refine domain-specific prompts to ensure the system produces accurate, context-aware, and business-aligned results. Success in this role requires a solid grasp of the transformer industry, industrial equipment standards, and prompt engineering best practices, alongside the ability to collaborate with IT, Subject Matter Experts, and business stakeholders to translate complex logic into effective prompts.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and manage prompt libraries tailored to different transformer units and factories.
• Apply advanced prompt engineering methods such as prompt chaining, context injection, and few-shot learning to achieve enterprise-level accuracy.
• Manage the full prompt lifecycle, including version control, traceability, and governance.
• Assess LLM outputs for precision, regulatory compliance, and bias reduction.
• Perform A/B testing and track performance metrics to measure prompt effectiveness.
• Partner with Module Owners, Subject Matter Experts, and business stakeholders to integrate prompts into ACE workflows.
• Develop comprehensive documentation for prompt strategies and ensure alignment with Hitachi Energy’s AI Ethics Charter.
• Monitor emerging GenAI technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve ACE capabilities.
• Establish and recommend prompting best practices across various ACE modules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Prior experience in the transformer industry, including familiarity with international standards and customer documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
• Excellent linguistic and logical reasoning skills for crafting precise prompts.
• Deep understanding of NLP, context management, and token optimization.
• Ability to experiment and iterate to optimize outputs.
• Ability to understand business processes and translate them into ACE-specific prompts.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering techniques.
• Strong interest in AI enterprise-grade solutions.
• Willingness to learn Python and experience with AI APIs services.
• Ability to work in Agile environments and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
