VF International seeks a Global Product Developer in Stabio, CH, to manage icebreaker product execution from concept to finished goods, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and quality standards.
This position is responsible for the tactical execution of icebreaker products through the go-to-market process, bridging the gap between creative design intent and production reality. The role supports the Global Product Development Manager by implementing best practices and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Design and Merchandising teams to validate creative concepts and align on style and gross margin targets.
- Convert design ideas into detailed technical specifications and production strategies, covering everything from capability trials to bulk manufacturing.
- Create comprehensive tech packs that define materials, sizing, construction details, schematics, and quality control protocols.
- Identify and implement process and manufacturing improvements focused on quality and finish.
- Act as the liaison between internal departments (Materials, Design, Technical Design, Merchandising) and external partners (Sourcing, Vendors, Quality Control).
- Oversee project timelines for seasonal and non-seasonal items, using critical path management to ensure timely delivery.
- Apply agile methodologies to troubleshoot challenges, keeping projects on schedule, within cost, and up to standard.
- Keep the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system updated with accurate product data according to seasonal requirements.
- Build and manage cost models to meet predetermined gross margin targets.
- Negotiate with Merchandising and Sourcing teams to ensure financial parameters are met without sacrificing quality or sustainability.
- Analyze market feedback and product performance data to refine current products and guide future development efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Development, Industrial Design, or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe CC, with a solid understanding of PLM solutions such as Flex or Enovia.
- Several years of experience in product development or technical roles within the apparel industry.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, technical specification creation, and sustainable product development practices.
- Ability to prepare detailed tech packs and manage PLM systems effectively.
