Ground Segment Test Engineer (UK or LUX)

ClearSpace seeks a Ground Segment Test Engineer to design automated testing ecosystems for space operations software, ensuring reliability through CI/CD integration and rigorous validation.

The Ground Segment Team serves as the digital backbone for safe, autonomous space operations. This position supports mission-critical services throughout their lifecycle, from initial development phases to live operations in orbit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and growth of the automated testing ecosystem for Ground Segment software.
  • Create, expand, and upkeep automated test frameworks for various Ground Segment tools.
  • Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous validation.
  • Build and maintain test infrastructure utilizing Python, behave, allure, and related frameworks.
  • Plan and run end-to-end integration tests that cover mission workflows, system interfaces, and data flows.
  • Work with developers, system engineers, and operations teams to spot gaps in test coverage.
  • Maintain full traceability for test artifacts, results, and any non-conformances.
  • Configure test environments, including mock services, simulators, and virtualized Ground Segment systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with automated testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python.
  • Practical experience using behave (BDD) and reporting tools like allure.
  • Familiarity with integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of software integration, interface testing, and system-of-systems behaviors.

Nice to have

  • Experience testing Ground Segment or mission operations systems.
  • Knowledge of satellite operations concepts, TM/TC flows, or space mission architectures.
  • Experience working with simulators, spacecraft emulators, or hardware in the loop testing.
