Swiss Re seeks a Group Sustainability Intern in Zürich to support its net-zero strategy and resilience initiatives through research, training development, and cross-functional collaboration.
This internship places candidates at the center of Swiss Re’s sustainability efforts, bridging business strategy with environmental and social impact. The role allows participants to work alongside global experts to define metrics and concepts that help the re/insurance sector address climate challenges while generating business value.
Responsibilities
- Support the Group Sustainability Strategy by helping to develop concepts, methodologies, and metrics that drive the net-zero transition and societal resilience.
- Create and distribute sustainability training materials and resources to build internal capabilities across the organization.
- Partner with various internal teams to push forward sustainability projects and initiatives.
- Investigate new sustainability trends and assess their potential impact on the re/insurance market.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or holding a master’s degree in sustainability, business, natural sciences, environmental economics, or social sciences.
- Prior experience through internships, work, or volunteering in sustainability or the re/insurance sector, whether in the private, public, or non-profit sphere.
- Strong ability to convey complex ideas clearly in writing and speech, including crafting engaging presentations for diverse audiences.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in using AI tools like ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot for research and content generation.
- Non-EU/EFTA and UK nationals must submit a certificate from a Swiss university proving the internship is a mandatory part of their academic program.
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of the re/insurance sector, including its specific sustainability hurdles and opportunities.
- Familiarity with ESG metrics and sustainability reporting standards.
- Competence in data analysis and the use of visualization software.
- Background in stakeholder engagement or managing organizational change.
