Head of Financial Planning, Analysis and Controlling

Avaloq seeks an Executive-level Head of Financial Planning, Analysis and Controlling in Zürich to drive strategic financial leadership and business intelligence for global growth.

This senior role serves as the CFO's primary strategic partner, aligning financial steering, business partnering, and controlling functions with the organization's growth objectives. The position focuses on transforming complex data into actionable business intelligence to guide high-impact decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term financial strategies and multi-year models to support global expansion and capital allocation.
• Perform advanced scenario planning and risk assessments to evaluate business outcomes and advise on strategic directions.
• Monitor industry trends and competitive dynamics to define market-standard KPIs and shape effective strategies.
• Establish and manage the financial steering model while driving performance management across the finance function.
• Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure accurate data flow and implement reporting processes that improve financial transparency.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, explain variances, and provide context to stakeholders.
• Set budget guidelines, track performance against forecasts, and pinpoint opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
• Apply rigorous cost control methods to assess profitability impacts and work with department heads on cost management.
• Review and approve budget requests to ensure spending aligns with strategic priorities.
• Lead and develop a diverse team through regular evaluations, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
• Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders, offering financial insights to improve operational performance and decision-making.
• Build cross-functional relationships and conduct training sessions to help non-financial managers align operational plans with financial goals.

Requirements

• Over 12 years of senior finance experience, including at least 5 years in FP&A and 3+ years in a leadership role managing teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and cost analysis, with strong proficiency in ERP systems, financial reporting software, and data visualization tools.
• Proven ability to set enterprise-level goals and strategies within complex organizational environments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• MBA or Master's degree in a finance-related discipline.
