Head of Humanitarian Trends and Analysis Unit

The ICRC seeks a senior leader to direct its Humanitarian Trends and Analysis Unit in Geneva, providing strategic foresight and managing a team of experts to support global humanitarian operations.

This position leads the Humanitarian Trends and Analysis Unit at the ICRC's Geneva headquarters. The role is responsible for ensuring the organization maintains a comprehensive understanding of global humanitarian developments to inform its international activities in conflict zones and other violent situations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Humanitarian Trends and Analysis Unit to maintain a thorough grasp of worldwide humanitarian shifts.
  • Deliver strategic analysis and future-looking insights to guide organizational decisions and operational planning.
  • Oversee, guide, and develop a multidisciplinary group of analysts and specialists.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with outside collaborators, universities, and fellow humanitarian organizations.
  • Foster new approaches to humanitarian analysis and the application of data.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Political Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least ten years of professional experience in humanitarian analysis, strategic foresight, or a comparable area.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong capabilities in analytical thinking and clear communication.
  • Full professional proficiency in both English and French, including written and spoken communication.
