Head of Supply Chain Planning ERP BPO (all genders)

Merck (Schweiz) AG seeks a Director to lead the strategic design and deployment of ERP supply chain planning solutions, ensuring alignment with global objectives and driving continuous improvement within a matrix organization.

This position is responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, and enhancement of Life Science ERP process templates. The role operates with direct access to senior business and IT leadership, ensuring that process innovations are driven by business value. The position can be based in Buchs, Switzerland, or Darmstadt, Germany.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategic planning, rollout, and ongoing optimization of ERP systems for supply chain operations.
• Collaborate with global and local stakeholders within a matrix structure to ensure operational consistency across platforms.
• Champion transformative projects that align supply chain ERP processes with the company’s new global strategic goals.
• Present major process changes to senior leadership to secure approval and organizational buy-in.
• Guide a team dedicated to fostering innovation and continuous improvement within the ERP environment.
• Direct a group responsible for making critical decisions that refine and enhance the ERP template for complex business areas.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree and possess over ten years of experience delivering complex ERP supply chain transformations, utilizing both direct and indirect influence.
• Demonstrate strong business acumen and pragmatism to address challenges through effective process and technology solutions.
• Have hands-on expertise with SAP S/4HANA, ePPDS, and aATP to optimize global planning, production scheduling, and fulfillment workflows.
• Show proven ability to lead teams of subject matter experts.
• Be a senior leader with deep knowledge of supply chain strategy, inventory management, global logistics, and the Life Sciences sector.
• Experience in assessing operational risks and executing strategies to reduce business disruption.

• Prior leadership experience spanning multiple business units or functional areas.
• Skill in analyzing complex supply chain processes and simplifying them into actionable insights.
• Background in leading organizations through ERP transformations or acquisition integrations.

• Expertise in managing strategic initiatives to ensure operational excellence and long-term goal alignment.
• Strong change management skills necessary for driving transformation in large, complex organizations.
• Excellent strategic decision-making abilities with a history of successfully implementing complex projects.
