Head Trader eFX Spot – Associate-Director

Swissquote seeks an Associate-Director to lead the eFX Spot team in Gland, CH, overseeing team performance, risk, and client trading experience in a hybrid work environment.

This role leads the eFX Spot team within the FX & DA Trading department, reporting to the Head Spot Vice-Director, and is responsible for team management, operational excellence, and strategic execution in electronic foreign exchange trading.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support the eFX Spot team by cultivating a positive, motivating, and inclusive work environment.
• Encourage teamwork, trust, and unity among team members.
• Escalate any team conflicts to senior management or the HR Partner as needed.
• Support employee development through training, mentorship, coaching, and career advancement.
• Lead recruitment efforts in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition Partner.
• Ensure new hires are effectively onboarded into the team, company culture, policies, and their specific roles.
• Set performance goals, deliver feedback, conduct reviews, and address performance concerns.
• Manage underperformance processes with support from senior management and HR.
• Own the team’s realized risk and profit and loss (PnL).
• Monitor trades, orders, market conditions, news, and real-time risk to ensure compliant and efficient operations.
• Optimize price construction, execution, and risk management systems.
• Track client activity and ensure high-quality trading flow and experience.
• Maintain relationships with hedging counterparties and market venues.
• Analyze outcomes, identify improvement areas, and drive changes.
• Use internal analytical tools and quantitative skills to generate insights, recommend actions, and produce reports.
• Keep operational procedures current and ensure compliance.
• Serve as a key contact for Sales, Software Engineers, IT, and other internal teams.
• Participate in product development and infrastructure enhancements.
• Monitor the team’s workload and capacity allocation.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in sell-side electronic FX trading.
• Strong knowledge of market (micro)structure.
• In-depth understanding of client needs in both retail and institutional segments, as well as competitive dynamics.
• Skilled in converting large data sets into practical insights.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
• Strong interpersonal abilities, results-focused, and collaborative.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Prior leadership experience is highly beneficial.
