The System and Automation team at ABB Power Grids in Baden-Daettwil is seeking an intern to help build a visual framework for managing variability in large-scale graphical languages. The six-month position focuses on software engineering and data visualization.
This internship supports the Swiss research center's System and Automation team in developing a new visual framework for managing variability in large-scale graphical languages. The role involves applying expertise in data processing, visualization, or software architecture to create scalable analysis tools and intuitive interfaces for software variability management.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to technology development and research efforts focused on managing software variability.
- Conduct reviews of current technologies and benchmark project outcomes against existing industry solutions.
- Design, prototype, or integrate tools that enable the scalable analysis and management of software variability through intuitive visual interfaces.
- Share findings with internal teams, document technical processes, and propose efficient solutions for industrial implementation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science program in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Control and Automation Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated strong background in data engineering, software engineering, and/or software architecture.
- Fluent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Non-EU/EFTA applicants must submit an official university certificate confirming that the internship is a mandatory requirement for their degree program.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Python programming, UI/UX design, or simulation tools for power electronics such as Simulink, PSCAD, or PLECS.
- Strong communication abilities, a collaborative team spirit, initiative, and creativity.
