responsAbility board seeks a Senior Investment Officer in Mumbai to originate and structure sustainable food debt transactions in Asia, driving direct lending strategy and ESG-aligned impact.
The company is looking for a senior professional to lead the origination and structuring of debt deals within the sustainable food sector. This position plays a key role in expanding the firm's direct lending strategy across the region while ensuring investments align with high environmental and social standards.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate high-quality investment opportunities within Asian agriculture and climate-aligned sectors.
- Develop and sustain relationships with investors, advisors, corporates, financial institutions, and ecosystem partners.
- Negotiate deal terms that align with the managed funds' risk and return profiles.
- Oversee comprehensive due diligence processes, covering financial, operational, legal, technical, and ESG aspects.
- Construct financial models, conduct credit and risk analyses, and draft investment proposals.
- Present transaction concepts and final investment cases to relevant committees.
- Manage the legal closing and disbursement phases of transactions.
- Monitor portfolio companies via quarterly reports, site visits, and management meetings to identify early warning signs.
- Assist portfolio companies in overcoming operational challenges and improving ESG practices.
- Prepare materials for Valuation, Risk, and audit committees as needed.
- Collaborate with Environmental & Social and Climate Advisory teams to ensure impact standards are met.
- Provide operational support to credit risk and transaction management teams.
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- Over seven years of experience in consulting, financial services, or investment, preferably in agriculture or climate sectors.
- Proven track record in private or structured credit, SME financing, trade finance, or project finance.
- Extensive experience conducting due diligence in emerging markets.
- Strong network of contacts in South and South-East Asia to support deal origination.
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and accounting.
- Excellent oral and written English proficiency.
- Willingness to travel frequently across Asian countries for transaction execution.

- Proficiency in additional languages is considered an advantage.
