UNPAID VOLUNTEER - Senior Research Officers (Sustainable Finance)

The Blockchain Climate Institute seeks a Senior Research Officer to lead sustainable finance research, focusing on real estate and climate risks, within its volunteer-led Finance Research Division.

This position sits within the Finance Research Division of the Blockchain Climate Institute, an international think tank dedicated to applying blockchain technology to combat climate change. The role centers on exploring how the real estate sector intersects with sustainable finance and climate risks, providing strategic thought leadership and driving research initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead thought leadership and manage projects for the institute's sustainable finance research initiatives.
• Conduct primary and secondary research, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, to produce high-quality publications in sustainable finance.
• Identify and develop strategic partnerships to advance the institute's mission.
• Represent the institute at conferences and events, sharing research findings and engaging with key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Familiarity with financial institution guidelines for assessing climate risks, such as the TCFD Recommendations.
• Understanding of finance fundamentals, including asset classes, stakeholder types, risk assessment, and new regulations.
• Knowledge of sustainable finance standards, including Fixed Income, Equities, and the EU Taxonomy.
• Experience with digital data technologies like IoT, AI, I4.0, Analytics, and DLT in the context of green investments.
• Familiarity with innovative solutions in the real estate sector.
• Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across professional boundaries.
• Excellent written English skills.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage competing priorities under pressure.
• Effective presentation skills to convey ideas persuasively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• A relevant degree or training in a related field.
• Experience creating research outputs and structured reports for diverse audiences.
• Proven track record in organization or business development.
• Ability to build constructive stakeholder relationships.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively to drive projects forward.
• Experience in designing, planning, and facilitating independent research while meeting tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with digital technologies such as AI and DLT.

Nice to have

• Aptitude in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish.
• Deep knowledge of sustainable finance, climate change, climate finance, blockchain technology, and artificial intelligence.
