Swissquote seeks a Junior Business Risk Officer in Gland to support the Business Risk Management Department. The role balances commercial goals with risk controls for institutional clients, requiring fluency in English and French.

This position operates within the Business Risk Management (BRM) Department, serving as a critical first line of defense. The role bridges the gap between business operations and control functions, working directly with front-office teams to ensure that commercial objectives are met while maintaining robust risk management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate account opening applications for institutional clients, focusing on anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), sanctions, reputational factors, tax compliance, and cross-border risks.
  • Serve as a reliable risk advisor to the Sales Department, offering practical and timely guidance on both new and existing client relationships.
  • Execute tax compliance checks, including assessments for FATCA, CRS, and Qualified Intermediary (QI) obligations.
  • Carry out periodic reviews of current client relationships, with a specific emphasis on financial institutions and external partners.
  • Monitor transactions for a designated portfolio of financial institution clients.
  • Join meetings with prospective and existing clients when BRM input is necessary.
  • Work closely with Sales, Compliance, and other internal teams to streamline onboarding while upholding risk standards.
  • Help improve onboarding processes, risk controls, and internal procedures through continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of, or a strong interest in, the Swiss regulatory framework for financial institutions, including AMLA, AMLO-FINMA, the Swiss Banks' Code of Conduct (CDB 20), sanctions rules, and FINMA guidance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to make balanced, risk-based decisions that consider commercial goals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage constructively with both business and control functions.
  • High level of integrity, professional judgment, and discretion.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.

Nice to have

  • Strong interest in working closely with front-office teams in a dynamic, business-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of tax compliance frameworks such as FATCA, CRS and QI is an advantage.
  • University degree in Law, Economics, Finance or a related field is an asset.
  • German or another language is considered an asset.
