Manufacturing Engineer

Escatec Switzerland AG seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead rework efforts, repair complex PCBs, and drive process improvements to lower reject rates.

This position focuses on managing a rework team to address pending units while collaborating across departments to enhance manufacturing processes and minimize defect rates. The engineer plays a key role in ensuring high-quality standards are met through precise technical interventions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead a dedicated rework team to process backlog units and implement strategies that reduce overall reject rates.
• Perform detailed rework on printed circuit boards, including desoldering, component replacement, pad repair, and internal circuitry fixes.
• Assemble and modify sub-assemblies and components by interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical instructions.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify faults and repair logic boards and other electronic issues.
• Ensure all modifications and repairs comply with IPC 610 Class 3 quality standards and adhere to ESD safety protocols.
• Maintain precise documentation of all rework activities and inventory levels.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and support manufacturing and product development efforts.
• Conduct daily maintenance on soldering and other necessary equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Requirements

• Expert-level soldering proficiency for fine-pitch surface-mount and through-hole components.
• Ability to identify, test, and manage various electronic components effectively.
• Strong capability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational abilities for handling delicate electronics.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.

Nice to have

• IPC 771 certification.
