SMT Engineer

Escatec Switzerland AG seeks a Mid-level SMT Engineer to optimize Surface Mount and Wave Soldering processes, ensuring high quality and productivity in electronics manufacturing.

This position focuses on the development and refinement of SMT and Wave Soldering workflows to enhance product yield, quality, and overall output. The engineer supports daily manufacturing operations by resolving process issues, driving continuous improvement, and assisting with New Product Introduction activities.

Responsibilities

• Create and adjust PCBA manufacturing processes to boost yield, quality, and production rates.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to SMT and Wave Soldering to maintain or improve performance metrics.
• Conduct process capability studies (CPK) for existing and new machinery, developing plans to enhance capabilities.
• Assess new equipment options to increase process efficiency.
• Implement mechanization and automation strategies to improve output and quality.
• Provide technical support to other departments and product engineers for manufacturing quality diagnostics and corrective actions.
• Supervise and guide technician activities.
• Manage SMT and Wave Soldering software and hardware maintenance.
• Archive and maintain all software documentation on the server.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering plus four years of relevant experience, OR a Diploma in Manufacturing with six years of relevant experience.
• Deep understanding of SMT and Wave Soldering technologies.
• Practical background in PCBA manufacturing and process optimization.
• Familiarity with Process Capability (CPK), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Root Cause Analysis.
• Direct experience operating SMT equipment and improving manufacturing processes.

Nice to have

• Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
