Mechanical Design Engineer

Anavia seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in Näfels to develop unmanned helicopter systems, focusing on structural integrity, rotating components, and compliance with safety standards.

The company is looking for a mid-level engineer to design and develop mechanical systems specifically for unmanned helicopters. The role centers on structural components, landing gear, propulsion, and control mechanisms, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance and safety benchmarks.

Responsibilities

• Create and refine mechanical systems for unmanned helicopter platforms.
• Conduct mechanical analysis and simulations to verify structural integrity.
• Support the design and testing phases for rotating parts.
• Evaluate dynamic loads and perform fatigue analysis on rotor systems and gas turbines.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and testing groups to assemble prototypes and execute tests.
• Carry out validation testing to confirm that designs satisfy performance and safety criteria.
• Produce comprehensive engineering documentation, including design specs and maintenance guides.
• Coordinate with electrical, aerodynamic, and software engineering disciplines.
• Guarantee that all mechanical designs adhere to applicable industry standards and safety regulations.
• Keep up to date with the latest developments in mechanical engineering and UAV technology.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, plus three years of relevant industry experience.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree with two years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated background in mechanical engineering, ideally within the manned helicopter sector.
• Mandatory experience with composite structures (such as layups) or rotating machinery (including rotor heads, turbines, or propellers).
• Competence in CAD software, with CREO being preferred, alongside simulation tools.
• Strong oral and written English proficiency.
• Must hold Swiss or EU citizenship.
