Coopers Group AG seeks a Senior Platform Engineer in Rotkreuz to build a custom Linux distribution and modern C++ backend for medical devices. Hybrid role.
This position is dedicated to engineering and sustaining a specialized Linux distribution tailored for medical equipment. The engineer will concentrate on creating modern C++ backend systems, developing system daemons, and building operating system abstraction layers to support these critical instruments.
Responsibilities
- Design and sustain the OS abstraction layer, with a strong emphasis on C++ backend logic and next-generation system daemons.
- Create a suite of plugins that expose operating system functions through an RPC API.
- Provide technical support for medical instrument and software initiatives, including the ongoing evolution of the internal Linux distribution.
- Maintain system quality and code health by performing C++ unit and integration tests, refactoring older code, and handling Debian packaging and configuration management.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable professional experience.
- At least a decade of practical experience using modern C++.
- Proficiency in using Linux as a primary development environment.
- Advanced English skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Background in virtualization, container technologies, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience in embedded software, hardware drivers, ARM platforms, or hardware-software integration.
- Knowledge of the German language is considered an advantage.
