RMIT Professional Resources AG seeks a Senior Solution Engineer to manage a custom Debian Linux platform and advise development teams in Zug.
This position requires taking full responsibility for a bespoke Debian-based Linux environment. The engineer serves as a technical advisor to development groups, ensuring the platform supports their needs while driving system reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Modify the Linux kernel, incorporate necessary drivers, and handle the creation and upkeep of Debian packages.
- Architect, refine, and sustain build, testing, and release workflows to ensure consistent software delivery.
- Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for issues spanning both software and hardware layers.
- Guide development teams on best practices for utilizing and evolving the Linux platform.
- Lead initiatives to enhance system security, performance, automation, and overall engineering efficiency.
Requirements
- Over a decade of practical experience in Linux systems engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to build, customize, or maintain Debian-based Linux distributions.
- Extensive background in creating, maintaining, and resolving issues with Debian (.deb) packages.
- High proficiency in scripting and automation, specifically with Python and Shell.
- Deep knowledge of Linux internals, operating system concepts, build systems like Make or CMake, and packaging lifecycles.
- Hands-on experience with kernel-level components and low-level system integration.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Background in C or C++ programming.
- Experience with Embedded Linux, ARM architectures, or hardware driver development.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, KVM, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, or AWS.
- Prior work in medical technology, life sciences, or other highly regulated sectors.
