EPFL seeks a Postdoctoral researcher to join the Neuroengineering Laboratory for an ERC-funded project on insect motor control and bioinspired robotics in Lausanne.
The successful candidate will join the Neuroengineering Laboratory at EPFL to contribute to an ERC-funded initiative. The primary objective is to reverse-engineer the motor control mechanisms of insect limbs to inform bioinspired robotics. The role focuses on understanding how neural circuits within the fly's motor system coordinate limb movements and autonomous behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Execute microscopy-based neural recordings in freely moving flies.
- Carry out computational data analysis.
- Develop neuromechanical simulations or control robots using artificial neural networks constrained by connectome data.
- Analyze findings and prepare results for publication.
- Establish and maintain professional networks within the research community.
- Engage in educational activities and supervise PhD and master's students.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD degree or be in the final stages of completing one.
- Possess a background in experimental neuroscience, computational neuroscience, and/or robotics.
- Demonstrate strong computational and analytical capabilities.
- Show a publication record appropriate for the candidate's career stage.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
