Principal Data Scientist

Kanadevia Inova seeks a Principal Data Scientist in Zürich to lead AI strategy, drive production-grade ML solutions, and mentor teams within the waste-to-energy infrastructure sector.

This position serves as the central subject matter expert for artificial intelligence and data science at Kanadevia Inova. The role is pivotal in transforming waste infrastructure challenges into actionable energy, heat, hydrogen, and fertilizer solutions by leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning. The incumbent will guide the organization’s technical direction, ensuring that AI initiatives align with strategic business goals and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end creation, testing, and implementation of sophisticated AI, machine learning, and optimization models to address key business objectives.
• Serve as the primary authority on AI and data science practices, championing the adoption of industry-leading methodologies and new technological advancements.
• Establish and uphold rigorous standards for experimental design, model validation, MLOps, system monitoring, explainability, and the entire model lifecycle.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business units to identify AI-driven opportunities, shape product roadmaps, and inform architectural choices.
• Provide technical mentorship to development teams, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure all AI deployments comply with security, governance, and regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

• A documented history of successfully delivering multiple production-level AI and machine learning systems from initial concept through to operational support.
• Deep proficiency in machine learning algorithms, MLOps pipelines, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and modern software development techniques.
• Hands-on experience managing the complete AI solution lifecycle, including proof-of-concept, minimum viable product development, industrialization, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• A proven track record of technical leadership, including the successful mentoring and professional development of other technical staff.
• Relevant industry background combined with the ability to convert complex business requirements into scalable, effective AI-driven solutions.
