Production Planner

Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland Ltd seeks a Production Planner to coordinate manufacturing schedules, manage inventory, and support daily planning operations within a high-tech defence environment.

This position supports a growing team within a defence organisation that provides solutions across aviation, space, and civil security. The role is essential for ensuring the efficient and smooth production of advanced technical products.

Responsibilities

• Assist the planning team with everyday operational tasks.
• Work with operational groups to create and keep production schedules up to date.
• Help manage shop orders from planning through to production and stores, including daily coordination.
• Handle non-conformance requests and re-work tickets for the shop floor.
• Track material and component demand based on production needs.
• Liaise with various teams to guarantee materials and shop orders are available on time.
• Share production plans, progress updates, and any issues with the right stakeholders.
• Keep inventory levels optimised to support production while reducing holding costs.
• Perform regular inventory reviews to spot slow-moving or obsolete stock.
• Work with the stores team to verify stock counts and fix any discrepancies.
• Ensure shop orders are released in a controlled manner that matches production capacity.
• Find ways to improve processes and save costs in procurement and planning.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a production planner in manufacturing, ideally within electrical assembly.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data reporting capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
• Hands-on experience with ERP and MRP systems.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational skills to handle multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
