Research Associate - Mitochondrial Therapy Translational (100%)

Iob seeks a Research Associate for its Mitochondrial Biology and Therapy Group in Basel, focusing on CRISPR screening and mitochondrial transfer therapies for neurodegeneration.

This position sits within the Mitochondrial Biology and Therapy Group at the Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB). The team investigates how mitochondrial dysfunction drives neurodegeneration and works on therapeutic strategies, including cell-type-targeted mitochondrial transfer and genome-wide CRISPR screening platforms.

Responsibilities

• Plan, perform, and interpret pooled CRISPR knockout, activation, and interference screens.
• Identify new potential therapeutic targets through screening data.
• Support the group’s efforts to translate scientific findings into clinical applications.
