EPFL seeks a Senior Research Manager to lead energy system modeling efforts, coordinate the NetZero Valley Initiative with HES-SO Valais-Wallis, and manage ECCSEL partnerships in Lausanne.
This position sits within the EPFL Energy Center, focusing on advancing energy system modeling. The manager will oversee the NetZero Valley Initiative alongside HES-SO Valais-Wallis, coordinate Swiss participation in the ECCSEL research infrastructure, and support the center's public engagement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Assist with energy system modeling projects at EPFL
- Lead the NetZero Valley Initiative in partnership with HES-SO Valais-Wallis
- Act as the coordinator for Swiss partners within the ECCSEL consortium
- Help drive public outreach activities for the Energy Center
Requirements
- Hold a PhD with research background in an energy-related discipline
- Demonstrate deep expertise in energy systems modeling and optimization techniques
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the energy sector, including technologies, stakeholders, and operational constraints
- Be familiar with the Swiss higher education and research landscape
- Understand the dynamics of competitive research funding and environments
- Show a track record of successful project management
- Communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing
