Flexion Robotics seeks an intern to test its software on physical humanoid robots in Zürich. The role focuses on full-stack validation, debugging, and maintaining test infrastructure.
This internship places you directly within the testing workflow for Flexion’s robot fleet. You will bridge the gap between AI models and physical hardware, ensuring that learning-based software performs reliably on real-world systems. The position offers practical exposure to deploying and validating complex robotic stacks.
Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive software tests, covering the entire lifecycle from initial setup to final reporting.
- Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during hardware trials, navigating the intersection of software and mechanical components.
- Ensure the robot fleet remains calibrated, maintained, and ready for continuous testing activities.
- Enhance and upkeep test infrastructure, including motion capture setups and specialized rigs, to guarantee experimental reliability.
- Design repeatable test configurations based on the specific needs of AI engineering teams.
- Record test outcomes, solutions, and procedures to share knowledge across the organization.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Master’s program in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Practical background in working with robotic systems and troubleshooting complex, multi-layered issues.
- Strong coding abilities in C++.
- Proficiency operating within Linux/Ubuntu environments.
- Ability to work independently, taking full ownership of tasks until they are resolved.
- A quick learning mindset that embraces new challenges.
- Professional-level English communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience using Python for scripting and automating tests.
- Knowledge of ROS or ROS 2 middleware.
- Familiarity with motion capture technology or laboratory testing equipment.
- Background in simulation platforms such as Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo.
- Basic understanding of Git and version control processes.
- A portfolio showcasing personal robotics projects or builds.
