The company seeks a Senior Advisor for Seed Systems to provide strategic guidance, technical quality assurance, and advocacy on international and Swiss politics related to farmer-managed seed systems. The role involves leading knowledge management processes and representing the organization in global fora and policy negotiations.
This position serves as a strategic advisor and technical expert on farmer-managed seed systems (FMSS) and their role in transforming agroecological food systems. The advisor will lead knowledge management efforts, provide technical quality assurance for projects, and advocate for policy changes at both international and Swiss levels.
Responsibilities
- Establish the organization as a trusted partner and leading voice for global south organizations regarding FMSS and agroecological food system transformation.
- Represent the organization in international forums, such as the ITPGRFA, and contribute evidence and policy positions, primarily as an observer.
- Advocate for Swiss policies impacting Global South seed systems, including UPOV and free trade agreements, through government dialogue, parliamentary lobbying, and referendum campaigns with allies.
- Provide strategic guidance and technical input for FMSS projects and advocacy strategies across country offices and partners.
- Ensure quality control and review of project applications, strategies, and policy-level outputs related to seed systems.
- Collect, process, and systematize lessons learned from different countries and maintain expert exchanges with UN, research, donors, and CSOs.
- Support media engagement (primarily German/French), collaborate with the organization's communications staff, and give interviews to amplify organizational positions.
