Senior Backend Developer

Alohi, an AI-first SaaS scale-up based in Geneva, seeks a Senior Backend Developer to build and scale server-side systems for its global product suite. The role is fully on-site and requires strong Python skills, experience with containerisation, and a focus on performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems that handle high-volume traffic across the product suite
• Design and implement APIs and web services to support frontend applications
• Create and maintain backend modules with clean, maintainable code and solid architecture
• Build infrastructure for AI-powered features, including integration with LLMs, model APIs, and machine learning data pipelines
• Identify and fix performance issues in a high-traffic, scalable environment
• Optimise database queries and system design to meet growing demand
• Complete development tasks on time with minimal errors
• Use Docker and Kubernetes for containerising and managing services
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and build systems to improve development efficiency
• Participate in on-call duties to maintain system reliability and respond to incidents
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features from start to finish

Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend engineering experience, preferably in a SaaS or tech-driven environment
• Strong skills in Python
• Experience with complex data structures and databases including MongoDB, MariaDB, and Elasticsearch
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools critically while understanding the underlying code
• Solid Linux knowledge and hands-on experience
• Good grasp of HTTP, REST, web servers, and microservices architecture
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with build systems and CI/CD processes
• Ability to write clean, scalable, and well-tested code
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
