Speechify seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Zurich to build foundational services and SDKs. The role focuses on designing reliable APIs and efficient systems within a remote, high-growth environment.
This position belongs to the Core Experiences Team, responsible for creating and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that drive the product experience across all platforms. The role operates at the intersection of product development and infrastructure, emphasizing the design of clear, reliable APIs and simple, efficient systems.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product teams to define project scopes, streamline deliverables for quicker feedback, and manage integration and UX trade-offs while delivering solutions through the cross-platform SDK.
- Enhance existing functionality by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms to enable faster loading and more intelligent parsing.
- Develop and deploy cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.

- Possess systems thinking capabilities with an end-to-end design mindset and a strong commitment to simplicity.
- Demonstrate the ability to work rapidly, generating ideas and determining which features can be shipped immediately versus those requiring further development time.
- Maintain focus and engage effectively within a busy, remote team in a high-growth startup setting.
- Exhibit strong collaboration skills to inspire, negotiate, and work closely with designers, marketers, and product managers.

- Previous experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
