Senior Test Engineer - Oximetry & Optics (m/f/d)

The company seeks a Senior Test Engineer for a one-year contract in Rotkreuz to validate optical and diagnostic hardware using biological samples in a BSL-2 lab.

This temporary position focuses on the validation of diagnostic performance within a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory. The role involves testing precision hardware and optical modules, with a strong likelihood of contract extension after the initial year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rigorous physical testing on optical modules, mechanical oscillators, microfluidic chips, and other precision hardware.
  • Prepare biological samples, including whole blood and adjusted hematocrit levels, while adhering to BSL-2 safety protocols.
  • Develop and execute automated verification and validation (V&V) protocols, life testing, and wear analysis in compliance with FDA and MDR regulations.
  • Create custom test fixtures using SolidWorks CAD and write Python scripts to automate data capture for complex tests.
  • Collaborate with firmware, optics, and systems engineering teams to troubleshoot defects using 5 Whys and Fishbone root cause analysis methods.

Requirements

  • A degree in Biomedical Engineering, Optics/Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent HF qualification.
  • At least five years of hands-on testing experience in medical devices or In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), particularly with optical components or biological samples.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a BSL-2 laboratory environment, including handling biological fluids like whole blood.
  • Proficiency with ALM tools such as Codebeamer and Jira, SolidWorks CAD, and Python automation scripting.
  • Professional-level fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • Fluency or a good working understanding of German.
