Test Engineer for unit testing (m/f/d)

ITech Consult AG seeks a Senior Test Engineer in Rotkreuz to lead hardware unit testing for Blood Gas & Electrolytes Analyzers, ensuring quality and reliability through rigorous validation and automation.

This position supports a cross-functional engineering group dedicated to hardware unit and subsystem testing. The role is critical for ensuring the quality, robustness, and reliability required for system-level integration of next-generation Blood Gas & Electrolytes (BG/E) Analyzers within a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess electro-mechanical components, including currents, voltages, and clamping forces, while configuring lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and encoders.
• Serve as the main contact for addressing unit defects identified in Operations or the BSL-2 laboratory.
• Conduct tightness, stress, and endurance tests on fluidic consumables.
• Execute physical testing on precision hardware, including mechanical oscillators and optics, and evaluate microfluidic chips.
• Prepare biological samples, such as handling whole blood and adjusting hematocrit levels, safely within a BSL-2 environment.
• Manage Unit Specifications (USP) and oversee Configuration & Item Management, tracking CIs and revision statuses.
• Act as the technical liaison during integration, managing hardware-software dependencies.
• Design custom test fixtures using SolidWorks.
• Execute automated Verification & Validation (V&V) protocols and perform accelerated life testing (ALT).
• Develop Python automation scripts for test rigs.
• Analyze complex data metrics and drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis methods like 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in hardware/software testing within regulated medical or IVD sectors.
• Strong understanding of the V-model development process.
• Proficiency with ALM/Agile tools, specifically Codebeamer or Jira.
• An engineering degree (BSc, MSc, PhD, or HF) combined with 3 to 10+ years of hardware testing and product development experience.
• Proven expertise in highly regulated medical device, IVD, or life sciences environments (FDA/MDR).
• Professional proficiency in English is mandatory.

• Fluency or a strong understanding of German.
