Software Dev Staff Engineer

SonicWALL AG seeks a Senior Staff Engineer to design cloud-based backend services for URL filtering and reputation systems, building scalable APIs and microservices.

The company is looking for a senior engineer to architect and maintain cloud-native backend infrastructure. The role focuses on creating high-performance systems for URL categorization, security policy enforcement, and reputation scoring, ensuring these services integrate seamlessly with firewall and gateway management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Architect and code backend logic for URL classification pipelines, reputation scoring, and policy enforcement.
• Develop and sustain high-performance REST and gRPC APIs to connect with firewall, gateway, and cloud management tools.
• Operate cloud-native microservices using containerization and orchestration to guarantee availability and scalability.
• Partner with frontend, data, security, and platform teams to deliver complete filtering and analytics solutions.

Requirements

• Proven backend development skills in Python or Go, with a focus on designing scalable REST and gRPC interfaces.
• Experience constructing cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD workflows.
• Deep understanding of URL filtering, taxonomy classification, reputation scoring, or similar security data processing areas.
• Practical knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, along with handling large-scale telemetry and metrics ingestion.
• Familiarity with security basics, including encryption, certificates, secure communications, and firewall concepts.
