Software Engineer, Product

Adaptyv seeks a Mid-level Software Engineer to build the orchestration layer for its automated lab platform, enabling AI agents to run biology experiments in a hybrid/remote setup in Lausanne.

Adaptyv is developing an automated laboratory infrastructure that allows AI agents to interact with the physical world and conduct biological research. This role focuses on creating the core software systems that coordinate these experiments, bridging the gap between AI decision-making and physical lab operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop the orchestration layer for LabOS to manage experiment scheduling, execution, data collection, and result analysis.
• Design and implement APIs and interfaces that provide real-time visibility into laboratory activities for both scientists and AI agents.
• Create custom AI agents and tools to automate decision-making throughout the experiment lifecycle, including protocol design and troubleshooting.
• Convert proprietary hardware into programmable devices controllable via APIs for software and agent integration.
• Architect scheduling systems to manage complex dependencies across dozens of laboratory instruments.

Requirements

• Proven full-stack development experience in production environments.
• Strong product sense with a track record of shipping features, monitoring user behavior, and iterating based on feedback.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, defining problems and solutions without detailed specifications.
• Extensive experience building applications with AI tools, alongside a deep understanding of traditional development practices.
• Genuine interest in biology and enthusiasm for conducting physical experiments.
