The company seeks a Senior Sorbent Module Product Owner in Opfikon, Zurich, to lead product development from early-stage research through commercial launch, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and scalability.
This position focuses on advancing sorbent modules from early research phases to full commercial deployment. The role requires managing the entire product lifecycle, balancing technical performance with manufacturing constraints, and driving successful industrialization efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manage the development of new sorbent modules from early research stages through to prototype validation, balancing product specifications, performance metrics, production feasibility, and scalability.
- Oversee the complete product lifecycle starting at TRL6, guiding the module through commercial launch, ongoing service, and eventual decommissioning to guarantee reliable long-term operation.
- Organize and execute validation processes during serial production, leading engineering, manufacturing, testing, and industrialization activities to ensure smooth product rollout.
- Collaborate with internal technology, development, and operations groups alongside external suppliers and partners to maintain seamless product development workflows.
- Assist in building and evaluating prototypes, running experiments to confirm design concepts, resolve technical challenges, and improve overall product functionality.
- Identify and implement improvements to sorbent modules throughout their lifecycle, focusing on enhanced performance, reliability, production efficiency, and cost reduction.
Requirements
- Possess an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, accompanied by a minimum of five years of professional experience in product development, mechanical design, or design engineering.
- Demonstrate practical expertise in material selection, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), Design for Maintainability (DfM), and Design for the Environment (DfE), alongside a foundational grasp of chemical processes and their associated energy and productivity trade-offs.
- Show a consistent history of successfully guiding development projects from initial concept to final implementation, coordinating engineering tasks and ensuring delivery through collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Exhibit strong creative problem-solving abilities and a dedication to advancing sustainable technologies, with a specific interest in early-stage research and development and product innovation.
- Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage intellectual property-sensitive collaborations with third-party suppliers and partners.
- Fluency in English is required, along with comfort working in an international, collaborative engineering setting. The role requires availability for 80–100% of a full-time schedule and willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
