Hexagon Robotics seeks a Staff C++ Software Engineer to architect and lead the vision system for its humanoid robots in Zürich.
This position is responsible for defining the architecture and executing the vision system that enables Hexagon Robotics' humanoid robots to operate autonomously. The engineer will steer the technical direction of the perception stack, mentor team members, and elevate overall engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, low-latency vision pipelines using modern C++.
- Optimize data streams using GStreamer and ROS2.
- Transition perception software from prototype stages to reliable, large-scale customer deployments.
- Ensure the robustness and reliability of the entire perception stack.
- Create clean, stable interfaces connecting sensors, perception modules, and downstream applications.
- Implement rigorous engineering practices, including automated CI testing, observability, and performance profiling.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship while aligning architectural decisions across teams.
Requirements
- Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ with deep systems fundamentals and at least seven years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of architecting and building real-time, production-grade perception or data pipelines.
- Experience in productizing complex systems and deploying them reliably to customers at scale.
- Hands-on experience with GStreamer or similar streaming media frameworks.
- Practical experience with ROS2 or comparable robotics middleware.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including setting direction, mentoring engineers, and driving cross-team decisions.
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
Nice to have
- Experience with GPU-accelerated computing (CUDA) and embedded GPU platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson.
- Familiarity with accelerated inference runtimes (e.g., TensorRT), DeepStream, or NVIDIA GXF/NITROS.
- Experience with synthetic data generation and simulation (e.g. NVIDIA Isaac Sim).
- Familiarity with 3D computer vision, such as object detection, tracking, 6D pose estimation, mapping, or 3D reconstruction.
- Familiarity with M L training and evaluation pipelines.
