SwissDrones Operating AG in Buchs, CH, seeks a mid-level System Integration Engineer Electronics to develop and improve drone avionics, including electrical systems, sensors, and power management. The role involves system design, testing, documentation, and supplier management in a hybrid, international environment.
This position focuses on advancing drone avionics through system design, development, and process improvement. The engineer will take ownership of avionics integration, including electrical wiring, sensors, battery systems, and power management, while contributing to the evolution of SwissDrones’ internal procedures and technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance drone avionics systems, including electrical wiring, sensors, avionics box, battery, and power management
- Produce technical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, configurations, and system settings
- Test electrical components and subsystems, and support full drone system testing
- Identify and resolve root causes of technical issues
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation
- Assemble electrical components and systems for testing purposes
- Manage suppliers for avionics components and systems
- Assume responsibility for system design tasks
- Contribute to improving internal processes and procedures at SwissDrones
Requirements
- Solid technical education, such as an apprenticeship as aircraft electronic technician or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in avionics and electronics
- Proficiency in a major CAD program for electronics
- Experience in electrical design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing
- Background in a high-quality, safety-critical environment (e.g., aviation, automotive, medical devices)
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic, growing company environment
- Proactive problem-solving attitude
- Commitment to improving company processes and procedures
- Team-oriented mindset
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong can-do/will-do attitude
Nice to have
- Experience working under an EASA Part 66 B2 License
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- German language skills at B2 (Upper Intermediate) level
