VN Mobility: Staff Travel Officer (P)

The International Organization for Migration seeks a Staff Travel Officer in Geneva to manage the travel team, oversee staff travel operations, and ensure compliance with travel policies in a dynamic, high-demand environment.

This position leads the Staff Travel Team, ensuring efficient service delivery and effective management of travel arrangements for IOM personnel. The role supports both routine official travel and emergency deployments to complex or high-risk operational settings, adapting to fluctuating workloads and activity peaks driven by emergency responses and major organizational events.

Responsibilities

  • Book and coordinate travel for IOM staff according to operational needs.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective travel options by applying established travel policies.
  • Interpret and apply travel policies, rules, and entitlements, offering recommendations on travel-related issues and exceptions.
  • Oversee direct reports responsible for visa processing, invoice handling, and travel service delivery, including performance management.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on staff travel matters, providing technical guidance.
  • Ensure adherence to staff travel policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with RMM HQ and internal stakeholders to find cost-efficient travel solutions.
  • Coordinate travel logistics for emergency staff deployments to field locations.
  • Stay updated on internal and external regulations governing international travel within IOM.
  • Work with the Office of Staff Security to regularly assess the safety and security standards of travel arrangements.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with airlines, travel management companies, and hotels, in coordination with the Senior Movement Operations Manager.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with internal and external stakeholders on staff travel topics as needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration from an accredited institution, plus two years of relevant professional experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in these fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in negotiating fares and agreements with airlines and travel agents.
  • Familiarity with IATA rules, standards, and procedures.
  • Background in international travel operations, including knowledge of international travel practices and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with tariffication systems, AMADEUS, and I-GATOR.
  • Fluent proficiency in English, both oral and written.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience with IOM administrative procedures and administrative or travel roles at headquarters or in the field is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an advantage.
