AI Solution Engineer

AECOM seeks an AI Solution Engineer in Zug to build scalable AI agents and automation systems. This hands-on role requires strong Python skills and experience with modern LLM technologies to solve real-world operational challenges.

The AI Engineering team at AECOM applies advanced artificial intelligence to address practical business and operational issues within Switzerland. Responsibilities

• Develop AI-driven systems that streamline and enhance daily operational workflows.
• Create and launch enterprise-grade AI agents and internal assistant tools.
• Architect and implement workflow automation and orchestration frameworks.
• Build AI-enabled knowledge bases and retrieval-augmented generation systems.
• Integrate AI-powered processes into existing enterprise platforms and internal infrastructure.
• Quickly prototype concepts and deploy production-ready AI solutions.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Business, Entrepreneurship, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficient software engineering capabilities, with a preference for Python.
• Proven track record of developing AI applications, automation tools, or internal systems using large language models.
• Knowledge of leading AI models and APIs, including OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or comparable services.
• Experience integrating APIs, backend services, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
• Ability to rapidly prototype, iterate, and deploy functional solutions in live environments.
• Thrives in fast-paced settings with high levels of autonomy and ownership.

Nice to have

• Background in creating AI workflows, copilots, automation systems, or operational tools.
• Understanding of orchestration patterns like workflow automation, retrieval systems, tool calling, or multi-step AI processes.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and deployment pipelines, particularly on Azure.
• Awareness of enterprise governance, permissions, reliability, and human-in-the-loop mechanisms.
• Startup, product engineering, or entrepreneurial background with a builder mindset.
