The company is seeking a senior Basis of Design Manager for Controls in EMEA to build a new engineering team and drive specification strategies across HVAC, Fire, Security, and BMS.
This newly created regional position allows the successful candidate to establish and eventually lead a dedicated BoD engineering team. The role serves as the primary connection between consultants, design engineers, and commercial groups, ensuring early technical input translates into a robust and sustainable project pipeline throughout the EMEA region.
Responsibilities
- Define project specifications during the Basis of Design phase
- Collaborate with consultants and engineering firms to implement specification strategies for HVAC, Fire, Security, and BMS systems
- Establish and manage a regional BoD engineering team
- Develop standard operating procedures, playbooks, and industry best practices
- Establish the team as reliable technical advisors
- Identify and prioritize key consulting and design partners
- Foster long-term relationships and enhance the company's thought leadership
- Convert specification successes into a quantifiable pipeline
- Monitor spec-to-order conversion rates and oversee pipeline governance
- Work with Sales to transform early influence into closed orders
- Enhance solution differentiation and contribute to product roadmaps
- Measure specification coverage and team performance
Requirements
- Engineering background with experience in design-stage influence and specification processes
- 10–15+ years in building systems or related industries
- Proven experience working with consultants and design/specification environments
- Leadership experience in international or multi-country settings
- Strong technical credibility combined with commercial and pipeline awareness
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive solutions into projects early
- Structured, process-driven, and results-oriented mindset, comfortable building and scaling ways of working
